GMC Terrain is a mid-size crossover, officially presented exclusively in the North American market. Initially, the model was developed by the General Motors concern as a military vehicle. The development turned out to be budgetary and could not compete with the Hammer, but the modified civilian version became quite popular.

The Equinox is the best-selling Chevrolet crossover in the US market.  By its characteristics, this is a full-fledged SUV, which is perfect as a family car.

Technically, the Terrain is the Equinox twin with the same interior and driving stuffing, but with a completely different appearance.

  • Terrain received from Equinox not only the GM Theta platform but also a similar line of engines and automatic transmissions. The only difference is the number of speeds: six for the Equinox, nine for the Terrain.
  • You will not find the difference between Equinox and Terrain if you open the hood, climb under the bottom, or sit inside the cabin. The only difference on the inside of the cars is the backlight color – the Terrain has red, while the Equinox has blue.

Another difference between these cars is the price. On average, Terrain is more expensive than Equinox by $2,000 – 2,500.

  • heated rear seats;
  • panoramic sunroof;
  • active safety features: collision warning, lane departure warning, and a 360-degree parking camera, and others.

Exterior Differences

  • The Equinox has a smoother design with graceful and curved lines, giving it some kind of cosmic look.  The Equinox is Chevrolet’s answer to the compact SUV challenge.
