What paperwork should I bring to transfer the vehicle ownership?

If you sell privately, you, as the seller, should have the original Indiana State Certificate of Title. You must record the buyer’s name and signature  on the proof of ownership in the transfer section. If the proof of ownership was issued in another state, you must notarize the transfer section. You should also sign a Motor Vehicle Bill of Sale. If you get your title certificate from another person, you can’t use it and have to apply for a new one to transfer it.

You should also complete the Odometer Disclosure Statement .
