10 Future Electric Pickup Trucks: What's Coming in 2024-2030?

2024-2030 electric pickup trucks for sale in the US

One of the fastest-growing segments of the burgeoning electric car market is the electric pickup truck segment. Many new models are due in the next few years. Legacy automakers such as Ford, Chevy, Ram, and GMC have already introduced new EV trucks or have models in the pipeline and nearly ready for sale.

Take the estimates and specs here with a grain of caution as we walk you through the advantages of EV pickups, the trucks currently available, and then those that are rumored for availability at some point.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado

EV Chevrolet has several new electric cars, SUVs, and pickups coming out in the next few years. One of the first out of the gate will be the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. The truck will offer excellent power, range, and several interesting features that separate it from the competition.

Ram Revolution EV

The Ram 1500 Revolution battery-electric concept vehicle is such a technological leap for the company that they didn't unveil it at an auto show. Instead, the company debuted the concept version of its first electric pickup truck at the tech-focused Consumer Electronics Show.

2024 GMC Sierra EV

The 2024 GMC Sierra EV will be the second electric pickup truck in GMC's lineup. It is expected to join the GMC Hummer EV pickup in GMC showrooms by early 2024. The first electric Sierra to arrive will be the top-of-the-line 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1.

Volkswagen Scout EV

When Volkswagen purchased the Navistar company in 2021, one of the assets they acquired was the right to the Scout name used by Navistar's predecessor International Harvester. They're planning to make the most of the acquisition, as they launch an entirely new brand of electric SUVs and pickups.

Tesla Cybertruck

If you were to believe Tesla CEO Elon Musk, there would be tens of thousands of Tesla Cybertrucks on the road by now. Well, there aren't, and there won't be any time soon. The long-delayed electric pickup is now expected to arrive sometime in 2024, though that is not certain.

Toyota Electric Tacoma

The current Toyota Tacoma pickup is getting long in years. There's a new Tacoma rumored to be on the way as a 2024 model, and there are many indicators that a battery-electric model will be offered. Whether it will be called a Tacoma isn't yet known, nor are any specifications.

Alpha Motors Wolf

It's possible that a small electric pickup truck is forthcoming from California startup Alpha Motors. Beyond a slick website and a single 3D prototype, there hasn't been a lot to prove that the Alpha Motors Wolf, Wolf Plus, or Superwolf are anywhere near production. However, the company released a video in August 2023 of a working prototype driving around the desert.

Atlis XT

Atlis Motor Vehicles is another startup that hopes to tap into America's electric pickup truck market. The Atlis XT is a commercially oriented heavy-duty truck with the ability to haul fifth-wheel and gooseneck loads as heavy as 35,000 pounds.

Rivian R2

Piggybacking on the success of the Rivian R1T electric pickup will likely be a second, more affordable electric truck. The company expects to begin manufacturing the Rivian R2 series, likely beginning with an SUV model, in its new Georgia manufacturing complex as early as 2025. It's widely expected that one of the models built on the R2 platform will be a pickup.

Hercules Alpha

In 2021, there was considerable buzz about the Hercules Alpha, a battery-electric pickup that produces as much as 1,000 horsepower and offers luxury-level amenities. The company penned a deal with Pinafarina for the truck's design. Late 2022 deliveries were predicted.
